The sun is here (just) and Summer is in full-swing! So it’s time to make it the best one yet, in Suffolk! We have searched far and wide to find you the best events in Suffolk this Summer!
Number One, of course, has to be LATITUDE
When? 17th – 20th July
Where? Henham Park, Southwold
Grab your ray bans and pull on your hunters because it is THE festival of the year (move over Glasto, Suffolk is leading the way)! Of course with headliners like Black Keys, Two Door Cinema Club, Damon Albarn and Bombay Bicycle Club the music this year is going to be amazing, but Latitude really sets itself apart when it comes to their arts content; dancers, authors, comedians; they have it all and trust us, you don’t want to miss any of it.
TOP TIP Head to the comedy tent where this year Dara O’Brien and Kevin Bridges will be splitting sides.
Number Two, Theatre in the Forest (Yes, it’s as magical as it sounds!)
When? 8th July – 24th August
Where? Jimmy’s Farm
Think Shakespeare, think Bronte, think a whimsical evening under the stars, think when can I book!? The amazingly talented and wonderfully creative Red Rose Chain are once again performing theatre in the forest at Suffolk’s Jimmy’s Farm. This year presenting Shakespeare’s A Comedy of Errors AND Emily Bronte’s Wuthering Heights, it is sure to be another wonderful evening to enjoy with friends! And you simply must book a pre-show dinner at Jimmy’s excellent barn restaurant for an evening full of food and theatre!
TOP TIP Bring blankets and cushions to make this a cosy night under the stars!
Number Three, Folk East
When? 15th – 17th August
Where? Glemham Hall
Slip on a straw hat and get ready to dosey-do! (No, we’re not sure what it is either!) Don’t be put off if Folk music isn’t your thing because this really is a lovely day (or weekend) out in Suffolk! You can head to the Imagined Food Village and sample one of the many treats there, then wander through Heritage Crafts, the Vintage Secret Fair, the Art Arcade, beer tent and so much more! But of course the music is the main event and headliners Bellowhead are well worth a listen, even if you’ve never dabbled in folk before!
TOP TIP Check out the SoapBox Stage, an excellent platform for new, young artists in and around Suffolk. Also, bring a camera to capture all the weird and wonderful quirks around the festival!
Number Four, V Festival
When? 16th – 17th August
Where? Hylands Park, Chelmsford
Okay, so strictly speaking it isn’t in Suffolk, but being just an hour’s drive and with this year’s super-star-packed line up we figure it’s worth leaving our home county for! Justin Timberlake, Tom Odell, The Killers, Paolo Nutini, Bastille, Sam Smith, John Newman and even Suffolk’s favourite home-grown star Ed Sheeran! The list simply goes on and on with outstanding artists, you’lll barely have time to catch the hilarious Alan Carr or Adam Hills over at the Glee Comedy Stage. Basically, V Fest this year is set to be one jam-packed weekend of talent that you should not dare to miss!
TOP TIP Upgrade to become a VIP, making your festival experience that little bit more luxurious, with late night bars, DJs and the best bit: VIP loos!
And there you have it, our Top 4! So slap on the factor 30 and enjoy summer in Suffolk!
